WINWOOD HONEY
Local honey produced in Lloyd Park Surrey
Family beekeepers. We have a little Apiary in Lloyd Park Croydon, UK, where the bees have over 45 acres of hedge rows, blackberries and wild flowers to forage.

OUR STORY
Launched in 2021 as a garden hobby we have found the keeping of bees and production of honey to be a hugely rewarding experience. Our aim is to ensure the best natural environment for the bees to thrive and for the production of the highest quality honey. Each week brings new learnings for both me and the family.

MAY 2026 - So much honey!

What an unbelievable start to the year! Our hives didn't just survive the winter—they hit the ground running like never before. Mild weather brought a beautiful wave of early spring flowers yielding a massive amount of nectar. We put our first super on back in March, and our 2025 Queen has proven to be an absolute superstar in her first full season. By the end of May, the hive is taller than me! We’ve already run through three harvests and taken in over 40kgs of honey, meaning we have plenty of honey available right now.
As per usual, we’ve been tracking exactly when our supers go on and when they are capped and ready for extraction. It’s been a fast-paced, incredibly rewarding spring.
APRIL 2026
The bees have been busy since the very start of the season. From March, they’ve been all over the winter cherry trees, hawthorn, and blackthorn blooming right across Lloyd Park. Just a couple of weeks later, they moved onto the local fruit trees, including those secret plum trees hidden away amongst the thorny hedges.

2025

We took a bit of a break updating the website but here is the short version!
2025 started with a very wet spring, followed by a beautifully hot summer. While the sunshine was lovely, the erratic weather made it a really challenging year for our bees. Our honey crop dropped to just 18kgs compared to over 100kgs the year prior! However, beekeeping is all about the long game. Thanks to some careful management, we successfully put two strong, healthy hives into winter hibernation, setting us up perfectly for the future.
2024 - That's a wrap
As the honey season draws to a close we can reflect on the triumphs and learnings as a whole. This was our first season extract 4 different colour grades and with over 100kgs from 3 hives it has been a very productive year. What could have been better, performing more splits thus reducing overcrowding our biggest hives and reducing the swarming instincts later in the season.

AUGUST 2024
Having extracted off the light honey, August gifted us with a wonderful Dark Amber honey. Blackberries and Lloyd Park wild flowers have all contributed to this caramel, almost molasses tasting honey.
July 2024
What a wet Spring! Constant rain kept the bees stuck in side far longer than normal meaning we had a couple of early swarms, helping us double up our hives. Then when it did stop, everything flowered at once and what you see here are our award winning capped honey frames full of white clover honey. Beautifully light and very floral tasting

AUGUST 2023
2023's harvest is just around the corner! It's been a challenging year, with the wet Spring leading to a couple of hive splits and a smaller Spring harvest than last year.
AUGUST 2022
Spanning late Spring and early Summer this honey has a strong floral taste from the surrounding Apple and Plum trees, Rose bushes and wild flowers including Thistle, Trifolium and Lavender.Hive 1: Our second batch from our new 2022 Queen.
